Bringing a PC environment to Mobile The new Samsung OMNIA allows users to switch seamlessly between Microsoft Outlook email and productivity applications that replicate the look and feel of their PC - with a stroke of their finger. Based on the most up to date Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system, Samsung OMNIA gives users a mobile extension to their PC experience, with access to MS Office documents such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Users can also send and receive email and manage their appointments in Outlook while on the go. The Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system means users can download additional programs as they would on their PC and customize it for their individual needs. For ease of navigation an optical mouse similar to those on laptop computers offers improved usability and one-handed control.
Garmin has put out a news release ahead of their Q2 earnings call later today, which included this update on the nuvifone: "The nuvifone will not be available in fourth quarter as previously announced. While we had hoped to have carrier launches in the fourth quarter, we have found that meeting some of the carrier specific requirements will take longer than anticipated. We remain pleased with carrier interest in the device and are working toward making necessary design changes to meet their requirements. We anticipate launching the product during the first half of 2009."
. It looks like this time around it will not just be the Apple Store and ATT Authorized Dealers selling the Apple iPhone. This time around, it is rumored that Radio Shack and Best Buy will have the second coming of the Apple iPhone with its’ new 3rd generation data feature. The first time around the estimated sales of the Apple iPhone were at 500,000 to 700,000. It’s hard to tell if history will repeat itself or exceed itself by out selling the estimates of last year. Call it the HTC Raphael no longer. HTC has officially announced the Touch Pro as their newest pocket pc with a full slide out, QWERTY keyboard. The HTC Touch Pro is the successor to the famed Tytn II (which I currently use). The Touch Pro delivers less internal storage then the Touch Diamond at 512MB internal, and 288MB RAM, but a generous 8x more memory than the Tytn II. The unit also has a microSDHC slot, a 2.8-inch VGA screen, 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera, GPS receiver, and a 1350 mAh battery. As with previous Touch series models, the Touch Pro will also have the Touch Flo 3D user interface, but with Windows Mobile 6.1.
Expect the Touch Pro to be released in Europe by late summer, and Stateside, shortly there after.
E-TEN recentrly unveiled it's x900 smartphone at the 2008 Computex show in Taipei, Taiwan and showed off features like a VGA touchscreen and equipped it with Windows Mobile Professional 6.1.
The new Nokia N96 is expected to beat it's little brother, the Nokia N95 was hugely success and the Nokia N96 is expected to follow in the same footsteps. As expected the leaked N96 has become reality. The Nokia N96 builds on the success of the Nokia n05 and further enhances the mobile experience. It comes with a large 2.8 inch screen, 16GB on-board storage and Micro-SDHC Card Slot. A new addition will be an integrated DVB-H receiver that will allow live broadcast TV (in selected markets) that will also include an automatically updating program guide. A nice little touch is the addition of a kick-stand for propping up the handset for hands-free viewing.
